Right know I have a catfish I did have some other fish but the catfish ate the tetras and I dont know why my betta died I think the pictus killed it but i'm not sure and I didnt cycle my tank because I didnt know but know I do and I am In the prosess of lowering the nitrate levls when I get it normal I have paid for a betta and will bring him home but can I put him in the 10 gal with the pictus

your pictus shouldn't be in a 10 gallon...they like BIIIIIIIIIG tanks. Really, bettas do best with non-swimming tankmates...snails, frogs, shrimp. Otos are good non-aggressive alge eaters that work as well. Bettas are not community tank fish, they do not want or need other fish swimming around them. If you want a 10 gallon community tank, leave the betta out of it and get him a 3-5 gallon tank.
