I was intially going to get a goldfish to put into our 5-gallon tank...but I see that that is not a good idea. What other types of fish might be good in a 5-gallon, filtered, and heated tank? (my husband wants something else other than male bettas...he has no taste just kidding!) I want to be a good "mom" to whatever we get...any suggestions? Thanks - Newfishy

Maybe a small school of cory cats? They sure are lively.

How about a dwarf puffer? They're SOOO cute! And they eat pond snails which multiply like mad when you turn your head for just one second!

Just a warning. Pink kissing gouramies grow up to 20cm (7.9 inch) and also like being kept in groups so they are absolutely not suitable for such a small tank. In my country it is even a rule to keep them in a tank of no less than 300 liters (79.2 gallon)!
