Agh i woke up last night at 5:24 becuse my fire alarm was beeping. It beeps when the power first goes out. So i get out of bed to check things out and noticed that all the clocks were stoped at 1:20 and the house was freezing (which means the power has already been off). I ran to see skitters and his water temp had droped from 80 all the way down to 72. all i could do was wrap the tank in a towl to preserve the rest of the heat. Well the power came back on at 6:55 and his temp in the tank gradually got back up to 80. He dosent seem to be in any distres over it. I can just imagine how cold his tank would have gotten had i not worken up then. I hope this doesent happen again because the only other heat we have in the house is a wood stove but i have no way of getting him downstairs to it. I hope this never happens again.

Last February I had the same thing happen during an ice storm, only our power was out for nearly a day My tanks dropped down to the low 60's I put the tanks into a warm tub until the power came back on, then plugged th em back in. Amazingly, NONE of my bettas suffered from the experience!!! No ich, no nothing - I was SO relieved. I would just recommend that you watch your guys closely for the next couple of days, keep them as stress-free as possible and their water clean. Good luck! ~abm
