instead of buying it, contact a wildlife rescue organization in your area and they can probably help you get it released.

Captive bred sea turtles have been reintroduced into the wild, but it has been under the care and supervision of marine biology institutes. I guarantee you that if you release the turtle into the ocean, it won't have much of a chance of survival.

It's two feet long?
Then it was most likely a wild turtle, caught for an aquarium. In this case, it might have a chance to survive in the wild, because it probably came from the wild. To be sure, find a university, or a nature conservation group near you, and check with them before you make sure. Or maybe get in touch with a large public aquarium if you know of any in your part of the world.

Turtle pellets? Probably not. It needs fresh food in the form of shellfish and/or aquatic plants. I don't know what type it is, and I know next to nothing about what they eat anyway other than it needs to be fresh, some are omnivorous, some are herbivorous, and some are carnivorous. Best to talk to the people at the university.

Depending what type of turtle it is it ranges from sea grass to jellyfish to crabs and bivalves. I would defintely check with a university or see if there is an oceanography or marine biology research organization near you. If your interested still, I can probably find out for you who they are and where they are located. Ahh, the greatest frustration of an ecologist. It's rather interesting how hard it is for an ecologist to get laws past by the government for the protection of the environment. Because of people wanting money and the conforts of life, the environment ends up suffering and those who care about have problems getting the support they need because of people being unintersted in what they are doing or because it'll cause them to loose money. Anyway, goodluck with opperation sea turtle .
