Hello, as some of you may know I have a few dwarf gouramis. I used to have 4, but I got rid of the "double dot" gourami because he was too big for the tank and he kept hurting the other smaller dwarfs. Now one of my dwarfs has an injury, and I'm not sure if he can recover from it. The bigger "double dot" bit his "feeler" half off. I'm not really sure what it's called... lol. He seems ok just a little less active. I'm not sure whether to add melafix or not because I dont know if it will even grow back.....

usually the feelers will not regrow...but it doesn't seem to cause them lasting harm to be without them. Unless there is some trauma to the body, I would not worry about adding melafix.

Thanks for the reply. He seems alright he just doesnt move and chase others around like he used to. That's what I loved about the gouramis, peaceful as hell but they chase each other around like its their job Hopefully he'll get better.

he may just be still wary of the three spot showing back up...hence the 'hiding'
also, watch ALL of your gouramis for signs of internal parasites...all the ones i've ever seen in the store here have them, and i had 3 die of them...but that might just be a local thing here.

One of the gouramis I bought two months ago had a stump for a feeler, but it eventually grew back.

ALright update on the situation... im so confused!
Well I got home from work and everything was the same, I fed them and everything was still the same. I was watching them and all of a sudden the two dwarfs started to fighting like really vicious, and I'm not sure if they were mating or something lol. The one that was pale and has one feeler has turned noticeably darker. After about four minutes of this, they finally stopped...... any idea of what that was all about? Am I going to have baby gouramis LOL

no, no babies...you have males...the females are a dull grey color and nearly impossible to find. They are fighting, as gouramis are wont to do...keep an eye out and make sure that one isn't getting singled out.
