I ordered a Whisper mini filter a week ago, but the store sent me a Whisper 20 filter instead, which is too big for my needs and their excuse to send me a more expensive model was that the mini model is no longer being made (and the model 10 isn't as well). Is this correct?

i have not heard if the whisper mini's are discontinued. I hope not...I have a 2-10i and its too powerful for my 5 gallon tank  ...I just ordered a mini from a company in oregon...I should get the order monday, we'll see what I get. |

I was afraid to try the model 10 (sample pictures never give us an idea of the actual size of things), then I found this mini and thought it would be ok... but then i got this model 20 instead that is as large as the whole tank!... I'm exaggerating a bit but it's way too large for my tank.

Marcus, I received a whisper mini from my company yesterday. I think the company you ordered from fed you a load of crap...they were just out of the minis...so they subsitiuted....not a good idea on thier part. I would contact the company. and get a bit grumpy with them. Explain that if you would have WANTED a Whisper 20, you would have ordered it...Insist that they provide you with a UPS call tag, so you don't have to pay postage on the return for a product you didn't order, demand a refund and then order one from somewhere else. The mini is PERFECT for tanks 5 gallons and less...any other Whisper is too powerful. Here are a couple places that stock minis: AmazonMoosey's Ambit - Screaming cheap, but slow to ship. Drs Foster & Smith - They have everything. Prices are ok. |

ok thanks for the tips but... I'm in South America!... I would have sent them immediately the filter and traded for the right model but I think they don't have it and blamed it on the model being discontinued which of course isn't true. I had heard some stories about this store before but as some people said that "it was just in their beginning, now they have a great service" i tried them anyway...
I don't have anything to get in return for the filter in their store, I had thought about a new tank but their tank prices are outrageous... a 1 gallon tank is about the same price as the filter!... I might end up trying to trade it with someone, I still don't know. If I ever get a bigger tank (but I'm not planning to do so not so soon at least), I might end up using it, otherwise, it's useless.
