I have a few questions about pH, ammonia and whether it can be affected by aquarium salt or medications. I know these questions are probably really basic, but I need to ask stupid questions right now or else I feel even more dumb for not learning from them I just got a test kit (AP Freshwater Master Test Kit) and tested the tank water and tap water, but I don't know if it's "safe" or not. I read that the pH for bettas should be around 7.0, but what is the highest pH that can tolerated without harming them? I noticed that my tap water + NovAqua conditioner has a pH of 7.6, while the tank right now has 7.2. It 7.6 too high of a pH? If so, what should I do to lower it without using pH up/down? What is the highest ammonia reading that's dangerous for bettas? Right now my tank has about .25 ppm according to the test kit. The tank (1 gal, uncycled/unfiltered) currently has a dose of Melafix and aquarium salt, so are they affecting the readings at all? Thanks for your patience...
