I know everyone is probably sick to death of talking about pet stores and pet store employees, but I just can't help myself. It never fails to amaze me. I must vent.
I was visiting a friend yesterday and she had a betta in an [glow=blue,2,300]ABOMINALLY[/glow] small container. I wouldn't even be able to guess how much water this thing holds, but I would say probably only slightly more than the cups they are sold in do. After I picked my jaw up off the floor, I told her that this was incredibly too small and cruel. She then informed me that she bought it because it said "for bettas" on it and the store employee told her that "bettas like small containers and they will die in anything too large". [glow=blue,2,300]WHAT?!?!?![/glow]It's bad enough that companies sell these "betta houses" at all, but now employees are not only telling people that bettas will be "fine" in small containers, but that they actually LIKE small containers and will DIE in larger ones?!?! Sorry for ranting, but this is one of the worst pet store employee stories I've heard and I just had to share.

yes, its amazing the misconceptions there are out there about bettas. I went to petsmart and somehow (hmmmmm...bored were they ) 2 males got in the same teeny tiny cup!! they were SO beat up...there were bits of fin all over the bottom of the cup...they had stopped fighting from exaustion by the time I saw them. I dashed to get an employee and she was just as shocked as I was.

"bettas like small containers and they will die in anything too large" Sure, move me to a big mansion by the beach and I'll die as soon as possible. But I'll die of delightfulness instead
