hI.I have a 1 gallon tank.unfiltered.i have just purchased some NOV AQUA and som AMQUEL+ per advice of people at this forum..
instructions say: 5ml for 10galons of water.
i went to a site called "convertit.com" and typed in ml to drops..and the response was 1 ml=33.3333 drops
so i typed in .5 ml and the response was .5ml=16 drops
does that amount sound correct to you all who have used the chemicals? many thanks alice

Hi alice, With my 2 gallon tanks, I add 1 ml of NovAqua and 1 ml of Amquel+ each time I do a water change. When I had 1 gallon tanks I added .5 ml (I have metric measuring spoons - got them on a lark on a field trip w/one of my kids once....were never useful til I got bettas! ) But 16 drops sounds reasonable to me. On the bottles it says (I'm paraphrasing) you can add a bit extra w/o harming the betta or the water chemistry....so I err on the side of plenty rather than barely enough to neutralize the bad stuff. (Nothing personal against your friend, but is there any chance she might let you keep Fishie? You're doing such a great job learning the basics and beyond - I know Fishie appreciates you SO much! ) [glow=red,2,300]Happy New Year everyone![/glow]

Thank you,ABM... ..thank you very much..i must admit that even though the lables of these products state:"not harmful to fish"( or whatever they say),i still have to think to myself that it is still 'foreign substance(s)'which i am adding to a small amount of water..with a small fishie inhabitant..who no doubt is sensitive to small changes.. Nevertheless..i try and let everything sit as long as possible in hopes that there will be dissipation.(I used a hand blender to 'whizzz' the water..hoping to increase that dissipation process..just for fun.)
I think my neighbor will be open to suggestions as to how to improve 'fishie's life..she just has not been told the correct facts...and saw no need to research any further... i am getting a simplified routine going..which she may 'go for'..
i think this is a story with a happy ending...
and a happy 'in between'..
when i am fortunate to have a happy fish to care for for a bit..
Happy New Year to you also,ABM.
and all who may read this post.
Many thanks for this forum, and for your participation,(without which,we would have an awfully difficult time trying to figure a number of things out.!..in this new world of aquariums and fish.) best wishes alice
