This is for mostly my own curiousity and so that I don't feel to bad about having around 7.4 (probably a bit lower)..
I'm sure everyone has no choice but to have certain levels because of their tap water.

7.6 in my tanks that i use R/O water in and 8.0-8.2 in the tanks that I just use plain tap water in...I have 'liquid rock' for water.

Wow, 8.2 That's crazy. is that the water your bettas are in? thats nuts

nope, that's the reality of living in a rural area...not a whole hell of a lot i can do about it, comes out of the tap at ~8.1...you should have seen it BEFORE I put the softener and the R/O system in.
no, my bettas are in 7.4-7.6pH water. I only use R/O water in my small tanks, and condition with Seachem's Neutral Regulator. A stable pH of 7.6 is better than a fluctuating one. Honestly, I've never really considered my pH a "problem", they live in the same water at all the local fish stores.

ok Well thats good to hear your ph is at 7.4 for your bettas, i dont feel to alone now
