BIO-SPIRA!!!!! ;D As long as its been stored properly, it works GREAT!!!! It finished off my cycle in my guppy tank, and I also just had to use it to re-cycle Pig's tank, because I had to nuke it...the parasites were not going away. Both were stable and ready for fish after 12 hours...my guppy tank now tests perfect: 0 amm, 0 nitrites, ~5 nitrates...and when I put the bio-spira in my nitrites were off the chart. If you can find this stuff, its invaluable for setting up a tank...its a bit spendy, but the price is worth reducing fish loss and time.

Do you use the other products they have on the site, the bio-safe and bio-coat?

nope, just Bio-Spira and the Bio-Blend foods. I don't like the heavy 'stress-coat' conditioners...Prime is simple and works, plus you don't have to add a tsp per gallon.

the only bummer about bio-spira is that it has to be refrigerated at all times (and not frozen either)...so if they don't have/want a fridge, you are out of luck.
I actually got mine off of eBay...got a screaming deal...6 1oz packets for the price of 3. She shipped them to me in an insulated box with cold packs...so they stayed cold. Thie shelf life is about 6-8months...so it will keep for a bit. Each 1oz packet cycles a tank up to 30 gallons.

I recently used Bio-Spira to start a new tank and had good results as well. Last weekend I set up a 5.5 gal for 2 bettas with live plants. I added the plants, fish, and Bio-Spira and in less than a week the tank was cycled...not too shabby.
