We had a power outage in the section of town that I live in last night and as of 8:50 A.M. Mountain time it is still out. So little charlie has no heater or a warm room to put him in. It is 33 degrees outside with snow on the ground and about fifty degrees in my house. His water temp. is dropping very fast and is at 58 degrees right now. I am so worried about him. I was awake most of the night worried about my little guy. Does anyone have any suggestions about what I could do to get his water warm without electricity? So far he looks okay but that cold water is not good for him. I have never had this happen before. Please someone HELP!

What about warming up your car so that you can get the heat going in there to warm him back up and than using a thick towel to maintain as much of the heat as posible?
Another 'desperation' method could be bagging him like they did when you bought him and putting him under your clothes next to your chest to share your body heat.

That is a smart idea. I didn't think of that. I am going to run to Walmart right now. Thank goodness they have computers at the college I go to or I would not have been able to ask for help.

Wow, you already have snow out there? That's good to hear your power is back on. I hope Little Charlie recovers from the incident ok. Just make sure the temperature rise back up to around 80 is gradual at this point. Good ideas teresa. Another is taking the tank (or likely a smaller container with tank water and the betta in it) and placing it in the bathtub with warm water surrounding it.

Wow, you already have snow out there? That's good to hear your power is back on. I hope Little Charlie recovers from the incident ok. Just make sure the temperature rise back up to around 80 is gradual at this point. We got our first snow storm of the season yesterday. It was a wet snow so it broke some tree branches throughout town so that is what caused the power outage in my neighborhood. I have never had an outage this long though. Our winters have been pretty mild since I have moved here, for Wyoming's standards anyway. It usually snows off and on here in Sheridan Wyoming from October until the end of April. I have his heater on and his tank light on, and the temp. is rising at a slow pace at this point. I will keep a watch on it though. He seems to be taking this whole mess better than I am. He is acting like he normally does and was doing his I am hungry dance this morning. I on the other hand was awake crying worried sick about him last night and I was freezing to death myself. I thought about doing the bathtub thing, but because I had no power, the hot water heater wasn't working and therefore I had no hot water. I am just glad that this whole ordeal is over and I appreciate all of the suggestions that you guys have given me.
