Hi Betta owners, I just got our first ever Betta yesterday, and we love him already. My son named him Tarzan. The pet store person told me that I couldn't put "just any" live aquarium plant in his bowl, so I bought 2 small banana plants from her. I had already purchased an Amazon Sword from Petco earlier in the day, and now I'm wondering if I can use it or not? Are there some plants that are not compatible with Bettas? Thanks for any advice.

Bettas should do fine with most any plant in their tank, given it is the proper environment for the plants needs. The issue you may run into is having a small, uncycled tank can cause problems for certain plants. I noticed in another post you have marbles as a substrate? How are the plants in there? I don't have experience with either of those plants myself, but you may want to do a bit of research to find out what kind of water conditions, light, and nutrients they require on a regular basis.

How large is this bowl?
Both banana plants and amazon swords really need more room, and a larger nutrient source than a single betta.
I'd recommend getting some java moss if you want plants.
