My betta, the interior decorator

This all got started when my stepfather told me about his friend's cichlids, and how they were picky with their furniture.

Neptune, one of my two boys, is picky about where his hidey hole is. It has to be to the side of his tank, a few inches away from the short edge, just so or else he'll adjust it himself. The first time I ever witnessed this was when I was doing a partial water change. I set the hidey in its customary place, right in the middle, poured the rest of the water in, then went to clean up all the water change paraphernalia. When I came back, his cave had been shunted off to the side.

Puzzled, I stuck my hand back in and moved it to the center. I looked away for a second, then looked back. The cave had moved over to the same exact spot! I put my hand back in there one more time to move it, and once more Neptune nudged it over to the spot he'd picked out.

Do any of your fish do this? Do you guys have any funny fish stories to share? (My other fish, Boris, likes to roll marbles around the bottom of his tank.)

I thought my guy was the only one that liked to roll marbles around! All of mine will move things after water changes but only Lazarus 'plays' with his marble ;D

none of my guys have ever really moved anything in their tank. I guess they must like the change of scenery during after water changes! I will admit that I would like to see a betta rearrange his home to his taste! ;D

None ofmine move any things butI try carefully to always put things exactly the way they were so as to be less intrusive on THEIR home for them. I have a male (Snowy) that just hates when I clean his tank. He gives me the meanest look like "How many times do I have to tell you to get the hell out of MY tank".

A few of my Bettas will maybe shimmy around the plant leaves and stems to align them a little better to theirliking but they don't try to move the decorations. It must be really funny to watch your Bettado that.
