Is there a difference between regular BioGold and BioGold "baby" pellets?? Are baby pellets smaller?
Horatio gets 3 BioGold "baby pellets" in the morning (and then spends the next half hour looking up at the water like, "Well? Where's the rest of it?"), and 3 at suppertime. On weekends, he'll get a treat around 1:00. It seems like he's still hungry, though!

As I'm just an egg, not sure about "baby" vs. regular BioGold pellets. I guess I have the regular - my fishies get 2-3 pellets in the morning, 2-3 pellets in the evening & occasionally a couple during mid-day. I also have Tetra BettaMin "micro" pellets, which are much smaller (possibly like the "baby" pellets you have), that I feed sometimes in lieu of BioGold, because I've heard that BioGold will sometimes constipate them (?). My fish seem like they would eat forever if I let them, and they beg, too! Those little eyes staring at you are killers, aren't they? None of my guys or gals seem interested in the freeze-dried bloodworms that I got for "treats," which is just as well because they make me sneeze.

Thanks!
Does anybody else have any thoughts on this? I think BioGold "baby" is the same thing as regular BioGold, but was just wondering if the pellets are smaller.
Also........I found a package of something called Brine Shrimp at the supermarket (I think the brand name was Hartz or one of those popular pet brands). Is this something I could feed Horatio as a treat? I dont' want him burned out on the BioGold, even though he eats it now like it's top sirloin! ;D
Any suggestions?
Thanks!

If you get the Betta bio gold, it is all baby size. However, if you get ciclid bio gold, it comes in baby, mini, med, large. The ciclid baby is the same size as the betta bio gold. So the baby stuff is what we are talking about when we say 6-8 pellets a day. I think any of the other sizes would be too big for them to eat.

I had the same question, and I'm not sure what to do either. I feed my betta two "baby" pellets in the morning, three in the afternoon, and two at night.

I have been feeding Horatio 3 BioGold pellets in the morning and 3 around 5:00 for supper. On weekends he might get 1 pellet around 1:30 for a treat.
I thought this sounded reasonable until I read this on the Hikari (BioGold) web site:
For smaller bettas (1-2" in length) feed one pellet twice a day. When your betta reaches full size (about 4" in length) feed no more than 2-3 pellets two times a day depending on your betta's eating habits.
Horatio is maybe 2" body-wise; closer to 3" if you count the tailfins.
Can anybody clarify how much food is appropriate? I know this was discussed earlier, but I wasn't sure if there was a difference in BioGold pellets.
Thanks!!!

FishyYugi & Sef -- It sounds like your feeding schedule and amount of pellets are just fine! I wouldn't worry about it.

i think sef that i would feed the 6 - 8 a day as usual and take out any uneaten, youll soon find what your fish needs, just keep an eye on his tummy for constipation. ive found that all of my guys need different amounts of food
