Just curious...for those of you who feed your Bettas flakes, how much do you usually feed at a time? All three of mine like the Omega Betta flakes, but I never know how much is adequate. As with most fish foods, the label says to feed as much as they will consume in a couple of minutes, but we all know that would be disasterous! Thanks, sef

Only one of my guys would eat flakes, the BettaMin flakes. When I used them, I would give one tiny pinch about the same size at each feeding. Those flakes included pieces of brine shrimp, so I would just feed a little bit. I'm not sure if you could exactly measure flakes out or if that would get pretty messy. I would just use your best judgment about how many you think are adequate, possibly in comparison to the quantity of pellets that you would feed. It certainly would be disastrous if they could have as much as they wanted! Little piggies!

None of my Bettas would eat BettaMin, but all three of them will eat the Nutrafin BettaMax flakes and Omega One Betta Buffet (their personal favorite). The flakes are large with both of these brands, so I generally just give them two large flakes. Does this sound about right?
Thanks! sef

Sef your fish have good taaste...lol i aagree a couple flakes are about right ... the flake foods are alot less concentrated thaan the pellets so even a large flake isnt really that much food .... the reason i say tha the fish have good taste by the way is that Omega One food is maade up here( alaska) and its made from WHOLE salmon and other sea foods ...( mostly salmon ) and is very high in both the protien and the HUFA's and other fatty acids that fish need ..... that and of course im kinda partial to ALaska made products....lol the stuff i have seen made at their plant and they really do use the Whole salmon .... the skin all the way to the bones are ground up then processed into the food ....one old timer fish pro always said that for carnivours fish the best food is fish .... this is a very natural food tho not what a betta normally would eat ( normal foods for bettas are bugs and mosquito larva and such and a slammon would probabaly gobble a betta should it find one .... the food is really good stuff high in food value and from a natural source.... just one of mine eats Bettamin, and I usually give him 3 or 4 or maybe more flakes at a time, but I always try to choose the smallest flakes. If it is too big for him he eats half of it and then gets the rest as soon as it reaches the bottom of the tank or even faster. I also pick one or 2 of these paler flakes, but not often. Regarding the protein, I think it has more protein than the pellets (48% if I'm not wrong - it's in the label), and its fish smell is much stronger.
