How long does fish food stay fresh once it's open? I've read it's best to replace it anywhere from every 6 months to 2 years.

I'm particularly interested for freeze-dried stuff. I had gotten some freezedried brine shrimp when I first got dude, but he didn't like it, but I've still got it.

They kind of gave me the eye like "I don't think so".. ;D But my hatchlings like it for a treat...
