ok i just got a new crown tail betta today at petco. and i put him in the 2.5 mini bow that i got last week it has a under gravel filter. i heard its not good for bettas but im giving it a try.
now how can i tell if the betta dosnt like it? right now its just swimming around exploring. so im not sure if hes liking it or not plz help ty.

I would think that if he doesn't like it that he would probably go to an area of the tank and just stay there, not doing much activity, for a long time (long time being a few days). So far, it sounds like he's enjoying it. HTH

Another thing to look out for is if he is losing color in some spots, or getting pale. I find that when my bettas need a water change or don't like their surroundings they get a little bit of pale on them.

yeah i dont think he likes it bc hes just staying in the corner away from the filter so i guess ill have to get a differnt filter
any sugestions on what type i should get i have a 2.5 mini bow ty

I have the whisper one. But if you already have an airpump that came with that, you can look into corner box filters or sponge filters too. If you get one that runs of an air pump (my whisper 3i does), get a valve kit (petco has a pack with several pieces for less than $2) and put one that has the air control knob on it, so you can adjust the air flow and the output flow. I got mine at Petco, and they had 2 for 1-3 gallons.

I actually don't run a filter at all in my 2.5 minbow. I just do regular water changes (50% one week, 100% every second week) . I find the tank to be too small to run a filter, and the current just bothers the betta.
