Yes, the Azoo Palm will cycle a tank up to 5 gallons. When you replace the filter, do it in parts. There's a carbon sponge and a floss sponge part to the filter. Replace the carbon one first, and leave it for a week or two. Then replace the floss with the new one. Take the old filter and drop it into a part of the tank that gets some water flow. Leave it like that for a week or two, and test the water every day. You might see a small ammonia spike, like .25 ppm, but a 10% water change with gravel vacuuming should clear that up right away. Once the cycle is re-established, you can get rid of the old filter.
Changing the entire filter all at once will disrupt the cycle, but if you seed your tank before the change and do it in steps, it'll have a minimal effect.
