Ok, this isn't a recent death, but it's the one year anniversary of the death of Shazam, my red wagtail platy today. He was my shy littley fella... I got rid of two fish (a molly and a guppy) that were bullying him just cuz he was so darn sweet. Then I got Merlyn the betta. They got along fine for a while.
Then one day Merlyn bit off a hunk of Shaz's tail... I treated with Melafix, and took out the filter. Since I didn't even have the cartridge in without the carbon, the water got pretty darn gross and naturally, Shaz got dropsy, which he died from. I was still fairly new to the fish world and had no idea that him getting fat after being so skinny for so long was bad. Until he pineconed. He died about 11:30 in the morning in his favorite little spot by the big rock, just when he started looking a bit better.
That was just on my mind... thought I'd get it out.
