Wow, the colors in Angelfire's tank seem to match perfectly! Beautiful.
What brand is the 2.5 gallon? I've been out on the Internet today, looking for either a 2 gallon or 2.5. I haven't been able to find one that is not in the Hex design, except the Eclipse products -- and they're so expensive. Will you be adding a heater?
I've almost convinced hubby that it would be great to have another Betta (provided I don't go berserk the very first time I notice something slightly amiss with him LOL), but finding a suitable home is going to be something of a challenge.
Anyway, congrats on the latest edition! He is an absolute beauty!

Thanks, I think he looks good with his colored glass beads too! I did have Aragorn in that tank but he kept shredding the ends of his fins somehow so he gets to go into the divided 29 gallon and Angelfire gets a pretty new house.
My mom gave me the tank after her old betta died so I'll have to ask her what brand it is. I think she got it at Wallyworld. She still has bettas, but she didn't like the hex because she couldn't keep the corners clean from algae LOL. I've got the tank in the kitchen where it's warm so I doubt I will put a heater in. I'm really paranoid about heating anything under 5 gallons, that little bit of water could heat up so fast if there was ever a malfunction in the heater.
Thanks again! I am already falling in love with this new guy, he's just so cute LOL.

LOL you won't believe this, but the first name I came up with for Earendil was Angelfire! Good thing I didn't go with it, huh?
I'm madly jealous of your tanks--they're beautiful!!
Does anyone know of a good source for secondhand tanks and supplies? Like a fishie consignment shop? I think it would be a great idea...so many people give up on fish, and wind up with old tanks in their attics and such.

BettaMVP - your tanks are great! Those "hexed" divas have quite a bit a finnage compared to my gals. They appear to be bigger, too. How old are they? sef - I think that 2.5 gallon is a brand called AquaPlus (WallyWorld sells them). My 2.5 gallons are MiniBows (<$25, also at Wally, comes as a kit w/filter, light, etc...) MrsSmitty - I have occasionally seen secondhand tanks & supplies on eBay. You could try aquabid.com, too.

MrsSmitty, I probably would have named him something from The Lord of the Rings, but I let my stepdaughter name him. She came up with a good one, I think! LOL
Garage sales are a great place to find used tanks. You could even ask if they mind filling it up for you so you can see if it leaks.
If I get a used tank, I take it outside, fill it up and let it sit for a day to make sure it doesn't leak. If it does, you can get aquarium sealant and reseal the seams. Once I find it doesn't leak, I sterilize it using bleach and then rinse rinse rinse (did I say rinse?). Then I let it sit in the sun for a day so that any remaining bleach can evaporate. If it's a little tank, I run it through my dishwasher without soap, it works great. I also periodically will run all my fish bowls and jars through the dishwasher to get them squeaky clean.
BettaBGood, My females are all crowntails and I agree, they do have pretty good finnage for girls! According to the lady I bought them from, they should be about 10 months old by now, she said they were 6 months when I got them. They really are big!
sef, The 2.5 gallon tank did come with an undergravel filter, but I tossed it out (I hate those things! LOL). Plus if you change the water weekly like I do, you don't really need it. Also, the tank is acrylic, not glass but I broke it anyway!
I've seen lots of 1 and 2 gallon tanks on eBay lately. I'm betting you could get a deal! In fact, I'm heading over there right now to replace poor Angelfire's tank that cracked.

I wish I had the room to have all of those tanks! They all look so nice and I do like how Angelfire's rocks accent his coloring!

Wow! What beauties! I have a female betta and she is so interactive with me and has so much personality and I would love to get more but I have no doubt in my mind that she, Seraphina, would probably do her best to kill them. She has tried to kill anything else I have tried to put her in with. She is sooo mean but I love her anyway. I am so jealous of your female tank.

BMVP,
I can't find those dividers w/ the blue edges anywhere, only black (not nearly as aesthetic). And, are those females in there? Why the dividers? Tks.

BBG, I'm pretty sure the dividers are color coded according to size. The black fit 10 gallon tanks, the blue are the larger ones.
I put females in the large section and males in the smaller ones. If you look in the middle section, you can see a little guy, it's my juvenile male crowntail.
