So here's the tank that started it all... Inhabitants: 4 almost-golfball size apple snails, 3 zebra danios, 4 neon tetras, 2 black phantom tetras, 1 oto, 3 julii cories, 2 spotted cories, 1 bronze cory, and 1 pictus catfish...oh and a few baby apple snails that haven't been moved to the nursery yet. Here's the right side Left side Closeup of my neons, danios and black phantoms: I'm constantly changing things around in it...I'm hoping to add 2 teeny angels this week...have to go see how the stock looks at the kinda-LPS.

*looks at own thumb*
Mine's pretty flesh colored, maybe you should get yours checked out by a doctor?
Try some java moss. It'll do well in just about any conditions, and will help control the nitrate in an established tank.

Lol maybe just two apple snails. I only have a 10 right now, remember. And I'd have to eradicate the existing population, but they're generic brown snails and I'm bored of them. But yeah, I might be interested.

PM me if you wanna...I'm not sure they'd be ready to ship for another week or so...they are all still about pencil eraser size...I'd like to wait till they are dime to nickel size before I start sending them off. They should start growing like gangbusters now that they are in thier own tank with calcium added.

Nice setup TLC. Try some java moss. It'll do well in just about any conditions, and will help control the nitrate in an established tank. I think you would notice a huge difference if you incorporate in live plants. I would never consider going back to fake plants myself. Java moss is your best friend and you would have to try pretty hard to kill it. It grows quickly, so even if you start off with a small clump you should have a decent amount in a few months. Honestly, you don't really have to do a whole lot of anything to maintain it either. I also keep java ferns myself, which are practically just as easy as JM. I really don't think you'd have any problems with live plants though. The upkeep is pretty darn easy.
