hi every1 i just joined a couple of days ago and im reeeeeeealy new to fishkeeping ( so dont blame me for my ignorence ) lol im still cycling my new tank and while this is going on im trying to find some rocks and plants to add to my aquarium... of coarse i can go buy those little rocks that cost 50$ :S i live in a realy volcanic area and there are millions of volacano rocks evey where i was woundering if its safe to just get um and soak um in some water then put them in the tank? i read that there the safest and they also look good to me so what do u guys think?

Yes, you can put volcanic rock in yoru tank. Wash it realyl well, and then let it bake in the sun. That should get rid of any ickies. Here is a good site for stuff you can put in your tank, and how it will affect your water: fishtanksandponds.com/general/tank_decor.htm

thanx luv kitties that site had what i needed i went out and found some rocks GREAT looking too and when i got home and started to wash them they started falling appart and thats why im asking about rocks and stuff, but i did find some great volcanic rock yesterday and they washed up great! i guess i'll let them soak i read its good to soak um for about a week to let any chemicals that might have been absorbed out of the rock. thanx again luv kitties
