How does everyone "play with" or give attention to your bettas?

All three of my guys like different interaction.
Piggly Winks is shy and just really likes to be fed and looked at.
Skye likes to follow my finger...and he will also chase my finger in the water...and BITE IT if he catches it LOL
Elmo is my tail biter...he likes ANY kind of attention. I use a small hand mirror to get him to flare, run a pen along the outside of his tank to let him chase...and we also make faces at each other.

My Betta really provides his own entertainment. Usually he just swims around the tank, but when I come to see him, he swims up to me, stares at me for a moment, and then hyperly swims around the tank. Sometimes I put my finger in the tank, which he likes to nibble on, but he won't chase my finger across the glass or anything like that. Then again, I only had him for two weeks. Lol, last night I discovered he hates Finding Nemo. I read somewhere that if I Betta is bored, just stick something near his tank and that will keep him occupied for a while, so I had this little figurine of Nemo which I stuck in front of his tank, and he flared like mad at the thing. It was kind of amusing.

Some of my bettas in the past have enjoyed following my finger around their tank. However, I did have one male, Flame, who would flare ferociously when every I put my hand near his tank, even when I was feeding him.

My bettas' favorite game is to chase after a mini remote control car that we drive back and forth along the counter. They absolutely love it and it's quite the sight to see! ;D The car is about as tiny as them, so perhaps they think they're trying to race it!

Mine has several things he likes to play with. He likes pushing his thermonitor around his tank, darting through his planet and playing hide and sneek with his hidey.
The hide and sneek game is murder on me because I'll look in on him, not see him and be like "Where's Zieg?". After letting me panic for a few minutes he'll happily swim out of his hidey looking proud of himself.

Rekall13, your guy pushing around his thermometer reminds me of my Melvin. He likes to play the game of knocking his thermometer off of the tank wall (stuck on with a suction cup) so that he can swim between it and the glass. Sometimes he'll also push it around the tank as you mentioned. I always go and stick it back on and he looks at me with an evil eye and knocks it off again. LOL! He only does it when I'm around though, so it must be some little game he likes to play. *I think someone must like to be the center of attention.* He's moved onto trying to do the same thing with his heater, but that's not going to budge. They think they're so funny sometimes, don't they? They're just so cute though, they can't help it!

Rachel - That's exactly what my Ziegfried does except my thermonitor doesn't stick to the side of the tank. He likes swimming between it and the side of the tank. He'll also push it around the tank. I never know where its going to be. He's getting a heater when it starts to get cold and I can only image the fun he's going to try to have with it.
Yes they sure are funny little guys. Plus they are adorable and addicting. I'm counting down the days until I can get another one. Only three more weeks.

hehe Elmo, my tail-biter, just started jumping for food. When I give him the Tetra bloodworms, I just squeeze out a bit from the packet right into the tank and now he jumps and strikes the packet before I can get it near the water LOL
