Agh im so depressed , I first bought a 1/2 gallon tank for my betta and then i found out that it is really to small. So i drove all the way up to halifax to buy another tank. I listened to my (stupid) sister and bought a 3.3 gallon as she said that it was good size( before i found the forum) anway the temp in my house drops at night so my tank temp drops from 76 down to just about 70. So i fiqured i buy a heater. Only problem is that my tank is to small, The lid i have for the tank i have to cut a huge hole in to fit a heater in and now i find out that since it is plastic i cant put a heater in it b/c it might melt. I worry about the temp droping but i do not have anymore money to buy a new tank let alone a heater and more gravel. I already spent more money than i have on the 3.3 plastic gallon one. Also i live in a very isolated area and have to buy the heater online which i cant take back if it does not work or will not fit.

cheart, I have the same tank as you do (I checked the pic and yep, the same and you can use a heater in it. Most heaters come with a rubber holder with suction cups that attaches to the tank wall...the heater rests in the holder and does not touch the acrylic tank walls so no melting. PM me if you're having trouble locating a heater that will work. I can send you the link to a website that sells them. ~abm

I also live in the middle of nowhere, so i understand your concern...But seriously, any place that you order from online is going to have a pretty liberal return policy. Plus, I've been mail ordering/ordering online for years, and I get LESS defective products thru the mail than when I buy them in the store. Aside from that, regardless if you purchase in a store or online...if its a warranty repair, you have to mail it in.
All my betta tanks are acrylic and I have heaters in them with no problems, you just have to make sure its not directly touching the sides. And like ABM said, they come with a suction cup holder that will keep them from contacting the sides easily.

You do need to be sure it doesn't contact the tank floor...I place my heaters diagonally to maximize water contact laterally and also to avoid the bottom of my tanks:)

Cheart99, where are you? I am in Halifax Can you put your tank on top of your fridge? It is nice and warm there and you wouldn't need a heater. Send me a pm, I might be able to find you another tank if you need it or buy the heater for you and mail it.

I live an hour away from Halifax... and I must admit, it's a bugger getting there.
