Hi I'm not sure it dosnt seem to be hurting my fish but there is a greasy film on top of my water I am a little nerv racked not nowing much and this being my first setup I just need to know if this film is bad or harmless

do you use a conditioner with a "stress-coat" additive?

It's a combination of protein, bacteria, and other organic waste. It's most often found in tanks that have a high DOC content, fish that are fed high protein food, and/or stagnant water. It's not harmful, but it may indicate you need to clean more often.

I had it when I used Stress Coat as a dechlorinator, it went away when I switched to Prime.

That's because Stress Coat contains aloe, and that's extra organic matter for bacteria =)
The slime coating found in other water conditioners is actually a synthetic polymer.
