my guppy has been sitting on the bottom of the tank bloting up every day i thought she was pregnant but now her scales are stiking out??? is it dropsy? and shes at the stage where her rib cage is just showing!!!!!! i need help please! i have her with general aid meds until i get some for dropsy if thats what it is!!!! she has eggs showing but i have no idea if its eggs or sickness?!?!!!??!!? every one in the tank are healthy and fine no one has any stress and the water is ok too!?!?!?! OH and is this conatgous!?!?!?!!?!?

The fish's ribs and eggs are showing? Can you get a picture of what you're talking about?
When you say the water is fine, what do the parameters look like?
How long has the fish been like this?

well.... shes swelled up in 3 days but the scales only showed today when i saw her the 1st day i saw that orange colore like of eggs when she would be filled with them since when she was pregnant abt 4 monthes ago (just eggs though) she did swell up ALOT! but this time on the 3rd day her scales are pinecone like and u can see the outline of ribs :S

oh and about the water... PH 7.1 - 7.4 the temp is allways 72 F alkalinity 3 dkh is anything wrong? i am treating her with some fungul meds cuz i cant find ANYTHING in stores for dropsy :S and i did put some salts in the water i dont hav my digital cam so i dont know if i can get a pic soon

What are the ammonia, nitrite and nitrate levels?
What kind of tank is this fish in, and how often are water changes done?
What kinds of antibiotics are you able to get for fish?

well its too late... i found her dead this morning the test dosent show any amonia... and i did a 40% water change last week and i do small water changes every week the nitrates and nitrites are low as well .... im gona buy a different test kit maybe it would be more acurate.. im using dip sticks now... thanx amanichen for ur help

By the time you see raised scales, a fish with dropsy usually has permanent organ damage, so if you see bloating, it's usually best to treat early.

the problem was that she got only as big as when shes pregnant :S thats why i didnt know till the 3rd day
