This goldfish tank is putting me through my paces but I've got to say I admire and love these little tough guys About 2 wks ago I noticed a greyish film on one of the fish...reading all my labels and taking a guess, I decided on JFC fizzy tablets along with some prayer 9 hours later, film was gone and fish were acting fine . Per the label and another member's suggestion, I continued using the JFC two more times to be sure it had done the trick...all seemed fine. I did a 25% wc prior to each treatment, along with smaller water changes daily to keep ammonia down. On Friday I noticed white specks on one of the fish...began using Rid Ich+, with almost immediate improvement. I've continued using it as directed. Today (Monday) not one but BOTH fish have one cloudy eye, and the one with ich has the greyish fungus again I did a 50% wc and added a JFC tablet. The fish are active and eating, a bit less active than usual but not hiding or anything. My gut feeling is that I need to switch to another med like Maracyn, but I wanted suggestions before I go that route, as it will involve (I assume) a full wc and lots of stress on the fish and me. Ideas? suggestions?

I know you ended up discussing this in the chat room on Monday night. What course of action did you decide to take? How are they doing so far?

Amanichen recommended sticking with the JFC fizzy tablets for now - both fish's eyes look a bit better but I'm looking forward to tomorrow when I can add another tablet and continue their healing I'm hesitant to do much water changing so as not to reduce the medication concentration, but the tank is not cycled yet so it's not the cleanest water that I'd like for them to be healing in...

It'll just cost you more money, which sometimes can't be avoided.

I mean changing the water more often than the med requires (due to a reason such as the tank being uncycled.)

Ok. Well, one of the few hard facts I've managed to internalize about fish is that keeping their water/environment as clean as possible is paramount, esp. when trying to recover from illness or injury - hence my desire to change dirty water. I haven't, though - I'll just do a change tomorrow morning before I add the next dose of medication. Thanks for clarifying!
