Let me start by saying, I normally don't do this kind of thing. I normally plan my betta adoptions, make a trip to the 'big' fish store in Atlanta, etc. Today I was in a lps picking up some dog food...there was a young woman carrying a goldfish-type bowl and she picked up a betta information sheet and started reading. I also started reading and grumbled out loud when I saw that it recommended "at least a quart" for a tank....I said they needed much larger homes than that, loud enough for the woman to hear, and she said she agreed, and that her betta was currently in a small vase because his tank had broken so she was trying to find something larger but couldn't afford the $27 2.5 gallon Minibow setup. So....long story short, we talked awhile, I showed her some other tank options, and then I saw her leaving with a 2.5 gallon Allglass tank and some Aquarian pellets My good deed for the day. As we talked, I realized they had moved the bettas from the back end of the display shelves to the main drag where everyone sees them....yup, that was it No name yet, he's getting acclimated to his 2.5 gallon Eclipse (used to be Tomahawk's home ) and I'll post pics when and if I take any decent ones He's a lovely lavender/purple color...quite unusual for pet store bettas. ] On the plus side, all of the bettas looked healthy, I saw no fin rot, and the water all looked clean - most light blue (I'm hoping Bettamax or something similar and not food coloring... ) and although some were quite lethargic, on the whole they didn't look too bad.

That is wonderful. It is hard to resist those little guys in the petstore when they are giving you that take me home look. I would also love to see pics of him when you take them.

What fun abm! We all need to cave sometimes and get the betta we just can't resist. So does the new fellow have a name yet? That's excellent that you took the time to help out that woman with proper care for her new betta. ;D That's definitely a good deed, even if just that one fish gets a better home!

I always feel so bad for the bettas at fish stores. They are kept in either a little bowl thing, or a tiny vase. They look like they want to kill themselves because they are so bored and they probably dont even get fed. Thats how I ended up getting a betta lol. I was like oh man he needs a nice home, so I went out and spent 80$ on everything then 3.47$ on the little guy.
