Has anyone taught their betta (or any fish) tricks?
I just recently taught mine to jump up and touch a paperclip that I hold above the water. And I am going to try and teach him to swim through a hoop next.
But I want more than just two tricks. He's so quick. It only took him 3 days to learn to jump and touch the paperclip. So I imagine it won't take him long to swim through a hoop. I want to keep stimulating him. Plus it gives me a reason to spend more quality time with him.
Any ideas on other tricks?

LOL!! How cool! I didn't teach my betta this but he honestly does it. Anytime I listen to some type of slower music and then go to faster upbeat music, he changes with it! May seem crazy but I've observed him doing this quite a few times. I like to think he's musically inclined!

Is your betta located anywhere near the speakers? Fish are more sensitive to vibrations than humans are. It could be that he's being made uncomfortable because the vibrations from your subwoofer or bass are jiggling his insides up and down.

Well maybe I'll try letting him listen to some music and see if he enjoys it.

He's on the same desk as the speakers but they don't put out that much sound/base. Nothing that would even rock the top of the desk haha!

Just remember that because liquid is more dense than gas, it carries vibrations - sound - better. What may be inaudible to us may be felt by aquatic animals. I know my fish can feel vibrations from my speakers even from across the room - admittedly, I do play them quite loudly, but anyway... Anything that would rock the top of your desk would be like death by explosion for your fish.

Haha k thanks for the tip! My computer (which I play my music on) could never stand up to sound that would shake the desk. The other computer could but it's in another room!

My fish seems to dance too! But I'm still not sure if he likes the sound/feel or doesn't... I hope he does... How would I tell if he didn't like it?

My guess would to put a piece of food on the paperclip and gradually bring it above the water to get the betta's attention.... i've never tried it but that's what i would do

Not unless you count me holding food over the water teaching them to swim to the top, hehe.

Not unless you count me holding food over the water teaching them to swim to the top, hehe. If I even go near the cover, they come to the top lol. If I open the cover both of my bettas circle around it lol. Guess I'm giving them good food
