Is one better than the other? Or are they the same thing in a different form. I think my betta had a small case of fin rot since I got him from the pet store... but I didn't realize it until yesterday. It's not really advanced right now, but I don't want it to get that way . I suppose I'll be medicating him in his bowl right now while I wait to get my all glass 2.5. Thanks so much for the help! Philip

I'm not sure I have answers for all of them but I'll tell you what I’ve learned. For a number of years I relied on JFE (sodium chloride, nitrofurazone, furazolidone, potassiium dichromate) to treat fin rot. For really tough cases I used Binox (sodium chloride, nitrofurazone) also by Jungle but not readily available. Binox is advertised as being "Extra Strength" but has fewer ingredients listed on the label. When the resistant case of fin rot that I first used Binox on responded nicely; I thought I caught lightening in a bottle. I also wondered how it could be extra strength but only have two of the four ingredients listed on JFE? Jungle has good customer support with 800 number and email. I called their 800# and spoke to a tech person. I was assured that Binox is extra strength and clears tough fungus and bacteria. I was told that fish medications are not required to be labeled like human medicines. Not all the ingredients that are in the medicine are always shown on the label. They aren't required to do so and different companies take different approaches. I discussed this with Rachel at the time and she was surprised as well. Fast forward one year later. While Binox seemed like the cat's meow, some bettas did not do well with it. I found that JFE served my purpose better. Fast forward two months ago. A recently imported betta had internal parasites. I put her on Jungle Internal Parasite Guard (powder) but lost her. When her sister came down with the same problem I called Jungle; they suggested Jungle Parasite Clear (fizzy tabs). She did great in the fizzy tabs and helped by eating Pepso food, recovered completely. This was the first time that I had used one of their fizzy products and I was thrilled to save her. When a new male got fin rot, I picked up JFC fizzy tabs (nitrofurazone, furazolidone, potassium dichromate). I really like the fizzy at this point. It didn't harm the plants in his tank. It didn't seem to bother him either. Best of all the Jungle fizzy products are inexpensive and available at most large pet chains as well as Wal-Mart. For simple cases of fin rot I'd use JFC. But I wouldn't rule out JFE either since it’s effective against fin rot. Members have used it to successfully treat swim bladder disease as well as other infections. Since I usually have 12-15 adult bettas and sometimes betta fry…I’ll also keep the Binox on hand just in case. I hope this helps...
