Our Betta is not eating and has a reddish growth or protrusion in anal area. Any ideas? We have had our Betta for about 1 year. It resides in a 1 gallon bowl by himself. We change the water every 4 days and add aquarium salt and fungus clear each time. The water temperature is usually around 70°. When we first got him we were feeding him the BettaMin Tropical Medley flakes which he did eat. Once in a while we feed him dried bloodworms. Then he stop eating both of those so we tried Wardley Betta Premium Food. He ate it a few times and then stopped. Then we found Hikari Betta Bio-Gold. He loved it. We feed him no more than twice a day, usually just once. He seems alert, gets excited when we are near the bowl. Has some bubbles around the top but hasn't made a big bubble nest in about 2 weeks. About a week ago he put food in his mouth but spit it out. Now food doesn't interest him. As I stated at the beginning, there is a red/pinkish growth at the anal area. (I don't have a way to display a picture.) My wife says she had a horse that got something similar when it was constipated. We haven't seen any feces lately too. So, does anyone have any ideas?

Hello Bill and welcome to Healthy Betta! It would be helpful to know more information about the care for your betta, to offer possible suggestions. Please answer as many of these questions as you can: Helpful Posting Guidelines. As for the reddish growth, it would be great if you could post a picture to help identify what it is.
