Does he look bloated around his stomach (near the two small pectoral fins on the sides are). He he has a swim bladder problem it could effect his swimming. If you click that illness and cure info at the top of the page and read the constipation and swim bladder disorder articles and see if he has the symptoms of those

It might be, especially if he's small. My crowntail was a little fellow and would always get bloated with meals (like more than 3 pellets) and I have him on 4 foods now, and with that and him being a bit bigger he doesn't get like that any more. Maybe try doing the two pellets in the morning, and the blood worm in the evening. I give mine 3-4 pellets once a day or 2-3 bloodworms. But try fasting him first (don't feed him for a few days, and try giving him a bit of pea (i take a frozen pea and run under the water until it's soften) and see if he starts swimming better and doesn't look as bloated. If he does then you can go back to normal food.

I've not used it but I read on another board (full of breeders) that they've had success with it (they used live, don't know how much a difference it makes). If you already have it, then give it a try.

If your fish is having constipation/bloating issues, after fasting for a day or two as sawcat suggested, feeding daphnia can be a good way to help clean out his system. Live, frozen or daphnia in gel would be the best choices. I'm not so sure freeze-dried daphnia would be that effective (plus a lot of bettas won't eat it anyway). The main things to watch for is if the swelling is going down and the fish is going to the bathroom.

The one near me does, but it's a newer one. They might have some in back, but if you can find a fish only store, they probably would.

some aren't big on making bubble nests. Might also be the filter. one of mine only does them when the flow to his airstone goes off. You can buy a air line connector kit from the pet store that comes with t-valves and control valves, so you can slow the flow of the filter. The control valves have a nob you can turn to adjust to air flow (which controls the water output from filter). I use that on my Whisper 3i filter, it also works off an air pump. about $2 for the kit.
And resting behind the heaters is fairly normal, all of mine do that. I think they lay on the suction cups.
