I have a Male Betta, a very healthy and happy Fish, it seemed. He is in a 2 1/2 Gallon heated Tank. Eating well, swimming well and seemed to be all around a happy Fish. Yesterday when I got up and went to feed him he was laying on the floor, missing his tail. I suposse he bit it off him self, because there are no sharp objects nor are there any other Fish in his Tank. I have no clue what to do, or if this will grow back. Does anyone have any sugesstions what to do? He cant swim very well without his tail, if I take him out and put him in a smaller bowl I cannot keep it heated, and it would be too cold for him, but i am afraid he cant get up to the yop if I leave him in his big Tank.
Any help is appriciated.

If the smaller bowl fits inside the 2.5 gallon tank then you can keep it heated that way. Remove a good portion of the water inside the 2.5 gallon first as you don't want it running over but make sure you leave enough water for your heater (submersible or otherwise).
