My tank has walls that are folded in and out. See webpage for pic, ie the ends are pinched in almost. Well my new betta is flaring at these walls. Do you think he can see his own refletion? Is it bad for him to be flaring all the time? Also can someone tell me what kind of betta mine is. See website for pics. The lady told me it was a fan tail but he looks more like a split between fan tail and vein tail. I just llike to know. Thanks

It does look like he's flaring at the corners! ;D You've only had him a few days, right? Hopefully, he'll adjust and settle down. He looks like a veiltail, like my betta. He's pretty!

WEll he is back at it. Flaring at the tank. I have noticed now that he does stop at times so im assuming that he has gotten tired. I love how his fins stay open like his pics when he is not even flarin... I just put a background on my tank and he is flarring like crazy at everything. Could this be becaue it is new and he is not used to it?

This seems to be what my new betta is doing. I have a 2gal octagonal tank and today after a water change he started doing "laps" and I swear he was tracking his own reflection. BUT, I was trying to see if he could see his own reflection from inside... I think he can't see it straight on but in one of the diagonal edges from where he is he probably could. but he kept "chasing" in the same spots of the tank so I don't know if that's it. I put a paper towel up as a temp background (solid white) so it's in front of a few things on his table... but this is only his second night in the tank so I'm not so worried about it, especially since he made a bubble nest this morning.
