Just got my betta Sunday and when I bought him he was bright blood red with a hint of blue-green on his scales, and his eyes are the same colour. Today I noticed that the blue-green is more noticeable, and is also apparent between veins of the fins (close to the body) - I especially noticed this when he flared at his reflection, spreading his fins (I was curious to know what a flared betta looked like) anyway I was just wondering if the enhancing of the blue-green is normal, good, bad, whatever... thanx

It's normal, and it's nothing to worry about.

Yes, you'll find that bettas often do not show their true coloring when kept in cups at the pet store. Once you get them home and into a better environment they may change colors a bit and most likely their color will get more vibrant. A betta's coloring may also naturally change over time as they age.

Mine have something different every day, sometimes the changes are very drastic (and fast!) but they're always for better.

Mine changed colors when he got angry. When I bought him he was flailing around in his little cup trying to get at the other betas, and he was blue. When I brought him home, he changed to a pretty shade of green. Hi did that kind of thing for about a year.

And then there's the marbled betta, which can keep changing colors for his (or her) entire life!
