Crayfish, is the proper spelling and pronounciation. People in the Southern US may say "crawfish" instead. Technically, only "crayfish" is right, but local dialects take a long time to change. cray fish crawfish.... i dunno what u call um they are good scavengers right? and i saw some at the store and they are CUTE! While crayfish scavenge for food, they also will go out and eat snails and any small fish that they can catch. They're not quite hunters, but they are still capable of catching fish. I wouldn't put one in a community tank. I wouldn't do it.

Ahh ickyfish my crayfish isnt in a community tank really i have loads of guppy fry and only 5 live in there and 3 danios they stick to the top but the guppies are vulnerable, yes they can be eaten plus the temperature is in low 70's. Every crayfish is different i feed mine enough and hes lazy to hunt. Not to mention he doesnt have that many climbing places to hunt them. Best bet is with danios or minnows but they can be eaten too.
My advice would be buy a cheap $30 10G or a huge tub with aeration its worth it crayfish are really entertaining and fun, anyway good luck
