If you see a fish rub up against the gravel...with determination...but only once...is this a reason to think something may be up? I've got a guppy that flashed *ONCE* this weekend, and has not done it since...i've gone over him looking for ich and velvet, and signs of parasites thouroghly...and I do not see any signs...he eats, he doesn't hide...he just rubbed himself and I happend to see it.
Basically my question is: will fish just rub themselves occasionaly, or if you see it at all, it means they have some sort of parasite?

I dont know what it is, but as soon as some people see one of their fish even touch any inanimate object in the tank, they immediately break out the quick cure and then make a panic post on a fish forum No, your fish don't have parasites. Most parasites that cause fish to scratch themselves are ones you can see with your naked eye. Scratching alone without any other symptoms doesn't mean much. Multiple fish scratching multiple times a day with an obvious discoloration to their skin, or white dots mean parasites. A single fish rubbing on the gravel once doesn't mean parasites.

Who me...panic? Nah, panicking would have been freaking out, dumping in some random medication, and then posting a "OMG HELP PLZ!" thread on a forum
