Thanks!! I've got another pregnat female that is SOOOOOOOOOO big...painfully big....she looks like I felt my last month of pregnancy LOL I was expecting her to drop this weekend, so hopefully soon! If size of the female is any indication...i could be inundated with fry LOL

warning, you know mama may eat the kids and that is why you only found 4. I found when I bred guppies when my girls were younger if we had lots of floating plants and places the fry can hide, the more survived. My daughters are now 21 and 18, my oldest is an avid fishkeeper now LOL. Both are avid animal people as our home testifies. Good luck, they are great fun.

Ya, knew this would happen...I'm sure there were a few more...but not many, the female that dropped them was a first timer and very small.
The tank they are in is pretty heavily planted...big java moss playground and tons of floating hornwort to hide in...i'm sure that when my large female drops, there'll be tons.

Hi congrats on your fry discovery :-) A guppy expert's tip to you would be if you want the guppies who are "the survivors and the fittest," you may want to heavily plant one small tank and leave ONE female in their to give birth and let her fry hide in the plants. If you want a LOT of fry, place ONE female in a breeder box and expect some babies down the chute! Why I say ONE is because I had one incident where I put two soon to give birth females in a tank and two in a breeder box and guess what? No babies! Why? When the other female was dropping babies, the other one came out to "eat" the fry coming out of the mom's rear end. The males do that too :-( And vice versa happens and you end up with no babies ;-( Good luck with your fry care.

Hey twoluvcats that's a nice tank! My fry tank has a very simple layout; fake coral plants, black background, fake japanese bamboo thing and a blue light. It makes it seem like a japanese sea! Hey I suggest to a member here at HB to have a tank layout like NYC LOL!!!
