Hi. Is it safe to use some sort of homemade decoration in my tank? If so, what kind of objects or materials are okay? I read somewhere that bamboo is good. Is this true?

i dont know about bamboo, but i have used a rock shaped planter made from ceramic that im using as a huge cave? cheaper than buying actualy aquarium decor and ceramic is safe, as long as there arent any harmful paints on it. plus the bottom of my tank has sand which is used in swimming pool filters, it looks great and is natural
