I've been using Jungle Bowl Buddies Water Conditioning Fizz Tabs to treat my water, but no one has mentioned anything about it here or elsewhere, so I'm assuming it's not that good. I got a free sample of Tetra AquaSafe with my aquarium and I was thinking of using it, but I know that bettas don't like sudden changes. Would a change of water conditioner fall under "sudden changes"? Would it be safe to try AquaSafe in my next water change?

Sudden changes mean pH, temperature, chemical levels, medications, etc.
Water conditioners aren't an issue here.

Use up the sample of the Tetra stuff, but then get Prime or Amquel for your regular conditioner.
You are not hurting anything using the Bowl Buddies...I used to use them in my office tank, just for the conveinence...but when you look at the price, they are "expensive" compared to a 8pz bottle of Prime, where you are only using .1ml-.2ml per water change.

I agree with twoluv, there's nothing *wrong* with Bowl Buddies - and lots of folks here on the forum have used them at one time or another. But you can buy a bottle of Amquel for about $5 and it will last a LONG time. I also got the sample of AquaSafe and used it with no problem. Your betta doesn't care how you remove chlorine etc. from his water - he just wants it OUT
