remember when I was worried about 7.9? well I don't know what this city has done to it's water, but somehow my tap water has gone up to 8.4! so now with much work and discovery I am maintaining a steady and healthy 7.4 ph in 57 gallons of water. what fun We are currently using phadjust down made by nutrafin, and was wondering if there is a better one out there...it takes alot of this stuff to get the ph to 7.4 and I am slightly concerned about the amount of chemicals I have to dump in the bucket everytime I want to do a water change. I also use nutrafin's Aquaplus for chlorine/chlorimine. Natural alternatives would be prefable, but I don't know any.

Measure the KH and GH of your water, and let me know what they are.

From the tank or from the tap...and would they be any different with what I am adding to the water?

The KH will be different, but the GH should be relatively the same.
Testing both will be useful, but I'm more interested in the tap water readings, because that's what I'll need to recommend a course of action against the high pH.
