Hey guys, I need your help. I just recently acquired an Aquatic Gardens 5 gallon aquarium and I need help determining what kind of filter would work best for it. Originally it came with an undergravel filter, but I opted not to take it because I really dislike them, and I feel they're more messy than I prefer.
My roommate (who's going to be using the tank) wants to be able to use the hood, so any hang-on filtering option is automatically out. I've been looking at small internal filters, but I don't know what kind to get. Do any of you have suggestions or comments for different brands of filters? I'm leaning towards a Fluval or one of those mini-submersible filters Hagen makes. The tank will be planted and stocked with 3-5 cherry barbs.

I wouldn't spend to much on something, I'd personaly just make my own filter for something that size... www.hagblomfoto.com/article_spongefilter.htmYou could build a rather nice sponge filter setup, for half the price of those, and be just as effective.

Get a Duetto DJ50. They're sold by Marineland now (formerly Aquarium Systems.)
