Before we're offline, I need some quick help. Here's a link to our new local water, we have the desalinated water on the chart: www.acwd.org/water_quality_reports/waterqualityreport-05.pdfWhen I test the water, after treating with Prime and letting sit a few days, it's still very hard. And I thought our water in NM was hard! If you could take a look and give me any tips, it would be greatly appreciated. Should I mix distilled water with it? I don't have RO water but I do have (and am using) a PUR faucet filter for his water. Thank you so much! I hope you see this in time to respond.

I just called the office, we get a changing mix of blended and desalinated. The chemist told me here are the ranges:
GH 120-190 ppm KH 140-170 ppm pH 7.8-8.2
water is treated with chloramines, but I know Prime resolves that.

I'm at work and won't be able to really look at it until later tonight. I'll take a look, and if necessary we can continue this over e-mail. I might post our correspondence on the forum to serve as a reference.

I can't link to the direct page, but if you go here and click on the blue zone 12, that's the water where we moved from.http://www.cabq.gov/waterquality/results/zonemap.html#zonemap
Just for comparison. So, he was already in somewhat hard water, but I think the pH is worse here. 7.1-7.7 before.

PS - in the filter, there is a bio sponge and a carbon pack. Should I remove the carbon or does it help?

Leave the carbon in.
I'll do some math sometime soon and tell you how much distilled water to mix in. I'll e-mail you the results if I don't end up doing it tonight.
