I was wondering how you guys feed your bettas this stuff?? I bought some at Petco a while back, and was trying to figure it out. It came in a cube, which I tried to slice with a knife, but it sort of melted and became gooey, and Mr. Jingles just watched it float to the bottom.

Try letting the cube defrost in a small tupperware or cup in the fridge. I heard of someone using an eyedropper which worked well for them. I used tweezers to drop two at a time in for my ADF's. I tried this method for my bettas, which worked. They got them in their mouths but spit them out. All three of my boys hate them!

Why not get live brine shrimps? they are very easy to hatch if you get the proper kit, and all of my fish (including bettas) just love them.

I put the cube in a brine shrimp net and run it under hot water untill it is melted, then I put the melted shrimp in a cup of water, and feed them with an eyedropper. One cube of BS is way to much for one betta, if your only feeding one then you can kind of shave off a small piece with a knife, and then melt that.

Thank you for the help. So, after the shrimp is melted, is it like a water?? Or does it become hard? Do bettas enjoy it then?? Thanks again for the help.

The shrimp themselves are kind of like these little gooey things, and they are soft. My bettas like it, though frozen mosquitoe larvae (glassworms) are their favorite.

I just bought it today for the first time too, and yeah, was shocked to see cubes!! I have freeze dried grubs (bloodworms) and they enjoy those.
Indiana went up to the brime shrimp, and than turned away, rather unimpressed. Phoenix quickly went at it, than spit it out, and than took it back. Phoeniz always does that with a new food though.
I also bought daphnia, wonder if they'll that. And I didn't know glassworms were mosquito larvae!
Anyway, the reason I'm posting is that a found an interesting suggestion on the web. He suggests dissolving it in water, and than taking a think amount of that water (with the shrimp) and freezing it. Than, when you want to feed, to cut out a piece of ice containing about 2-4 shrimp, and let it unfreeze, and feed it.

im not to sure about the unfreezeing them 2 times ...i know with people foods you should never ever refreeze fish of any type (includeing shrimp) the bacteria that break down food starts doing so when its unfrozen the first time and isnt killed by the 2nd freezeing ... it can make peoples very sick when defrosted the 2nd time even after its cookd (always cook fish products the first time before refreezeing it to prevent illness) i just melt a cube (bloodworms and the Mosquito larva) in an x- betta cup and then use the eye dropper method ... then again i use alot of frozen at each feeding as i feed 48...make that now 49 bettas and then some asst catfish and a tire tread eel(over a foot long now) .... i dont have any left overs..lol Mickey
