not flaring at all

My hearttail hasn't flared since he's been home. When he was at the aquarium he falred at al the other bettas I put him next to. Now even with a mirror he just ignores it. Is that okay? Never to flare again? He eats well, he's very active and very social (always swimming to the front of the tank when I come over to visit with him). I prefer a happy and healthy betta if it meant never to flare, but is it normal? My other two did it. Could he still be too young?

Some just don't flare for awhile when you first get them. Some don't eat when you first get em, or some don't move much when you get em. Every fish is different and he will start flaring in a few days, if that, I bet.

And some fish just don't naturaly care to flare. it took abou ta week and a half before my double tail started to flare at anything

My male won't flare at a mirror either. But if I put a female in a little tank next to him he freaks out! Starts flaring and darting all over his tank. I guess it just depends on what affects them.

And he also might be a little stressed if you just got him. He might be getting used to his new home and doesn't want to be bothered with flaring at a mirror.

I have 4 betta boys, and only 1 of them will flare at a mirror, so I wouldn't worry about it. My other 3 just wonn't do it. 2 of them share a divided 10 gal and have each other so they have no use for the mirror and 1 just won't flare at anything but another betta. and the last flares at the mirror, my finger, people looking at him, his plants...you get the idea, basically anything when he is in the mood.

just give him time and if he still doesn't then he's one of the fish who don't wanna flare
my fish (draco) flares at anything. but thats one of the many reasons why I love him
