Hi,
I just bought my first betta fish yesterday and wanted to make sure I have all the bases covered. I bought this nice 1 gallon tank you hang on the wall, some blue smooth glass stones for the bottom of the tank, a live plant, 3 gallons of bottled water, and 2 tiny african frogs. the betta seemed to love the live plant and spent most of yesterday swimming around his bowl. he did not eat however. today he did eat one or 2 pellets!!!
my first question is, is it okay to keep those african water frogs with the betta fish? the lady at the petstores said it should be no problem. they are really small.
second question, is there anything else i should know or need to make sure my betta stay happy and healthy?
thanks so much,
jae

;D Welcome to you and your betta!
"is it okay to keep those african water frogs with the betta fish?" Some bettas don't mind. Just keep a close eye on them, and if the betta is being aggressive, ie chasing them or nipping, get another tank for him.
"second question, is there anything else i should know or need to make sure my betta stay happy and healthy?" A heater. They like to be kept between 78* to 82*. Also, I have no idea about hanging tanks, so just make sure it is secure, especially if you live in California!
Give him a week or so to settle into his new home. That should solve the eating problem

thanks, he seems to be eating now. the frogs on the other hand haven't really adjusted yet. the hanging tank is secured by a screw. i'm going to use a turkey baster to change the water.
thanks again.
