I have never used Daphnia but with frozen Bloodworms I put the frozen chunk in a small cup and sit the cup in a bowl of warm water. When they are thawed out I use a tweezers (plastic) and put small bits in for each betta, maybe three to 4 bloodworms apiece. I think Daphnia are really small so you could just put a small amt in and let the betta "hunt" for the little creatures as they float down to the bottom.

You said betta and I'm assuming you just have one.
Here's what I do. Pop a cube and place on paper plate for a minute. Cut cube into several pieces with a sharp knife. place in baggie and freeze. Let a small piece defrost. i use a piece of paper towel to absorb moisture and feed small amount to betta. You'll have to experiment, the daphnia are small and it's easy to put too much in the tank. What brand did you get? I use Hikari.

The brand that I bought was San Francisco.
Ive been feeding my betta a little bit every other day, and every time he takes it all in his mouth at once then spits it out, the chases the floating pieces of Daphnia, eats it and spits it out again, then swims to the bottom and sucks up any thats on the gravel. It looks like he's eating it, but then again it dosent.
