Is it safe to put a weekend feeder in a betta's bowl for the weekend? I've got to go out of town this weekend, and have no way to care for them while I'm gone.

Weekend feeders usually do not work very well for bettas. They often will overfeed and quickly dirty the water. If you're just going to be gone for a few days, your bettas should be fine. Some people keep bettas at work and they can go a few days without eating on the weekend. Sometimes it's recommended to fast your betta for one day per week anyway to cleanse their system. They can go a while without eating if necessary, so don't worry if they miss a couple of days. If you're going to be gone longer than 2 days though, you may want to see if a friend can feed them once while you're gone.

I'll be gone for 3 days, so I'll see if a friend can feed them once. Does the same rule also apply to aquarium frogs, which I have in a seperate tank? Thanks!

I'm sorry, I know nothing about frogs. But I did want to chime in on the vacation feeding. I've heard of people being away and bettas going without a feeding for up to 5 days (sounds awful doesn't it?). But the person who told me about this reminded me that there is a tendency to want to over-feed right before you are leaving - and of course with bettas, overfeeding is a huge no-no. Ideally have a friend feed them once or twice while you're away. But if that doesn't work out don't panic, they will be fine for 3 days:)

The bettas will be fine without a feeding for 3 days. I have Dwarf African Frogs also and I recently went away for 4 days. They were fine when I got back. They didn't even look like they had lost any weight. Just do your water changes and give them a good feeding before you go on vacation.
