Do you guys play with your fish? Lately, mine seems to be fascinated with my finger and not with his uber cool hidey and formation and plant as much! when i stick my head over the top of the tank by the corner he darts for it and lays up where the corners of the tank meets and blows a few bubbles at me. he tries to jump up real high to catch food off my finger, but he doesnt seem to understandt he laws of refraction yet.. so he misses usualy unless i put my finger closer to the water. I have this tiny little round leaved thing that i sometimes push aroundt he surface of his water and he kind of looks at it but doesnt do much else with it. When i put my finger in there he usualy darts at it and tries to nip it thinking its food, but if i do it enough he figures out its not food and goe sup to it and keeps putting his "lips" up against it! hahaah. Then i usualy move the finger around and he'll flare his gills at me and i move my finger around him in a clockwise motion and he follows it. sometimes i can pet him too but that doesnt happen usualy as he wants to chase my ifinger. do you guys do anything wtih your fish? or do they play with you on your own? I cant believe how smart these little guys are, for such small brains they are so much more alert to their surroundings, even things that arent in the water.

Yes I play with my Bettas all the time. They like to chase my finger and depending on the personality of the Betta they will allow even closer contact. I have a female named Little Tracy who will let me cup her in my hand (with my hand in the water) and let me pet the whole side of her body just like you would pet a dog. She is amazingly trusting with me and is always waiting to play with me when I get home from work. I made her a bed at the top of her tank and she watched me make it and as soon as I put it in her tank she went up and laid in it. She likes to lay there while I pet her too. She's 2 years old now and has signs of swim blatter problems so she's not going to be around too much longer. But I smother her with love and she never fails to return that love ten fold and this special wonderful Betta is responsible for teaching me just how smart how playful and how loving these Bettas can be.
